Social Skills Classes will have 3 sessions for Summer 2010:
Session 1: June 7th - July 2nd (Younger and Older)
Session 2: July 5th - July 30th (Younger and Older)
Session 3: August 2nd - August 20th (Younger only)
Tangible Difference offers two types of Social Skills classes:
Little Social Skills Program: Ages 2-7
12pm-3pm, Monday through Friday
Many children do well in a one-on-one setting, but have difficulty when placed in a group. We have a Summer Social Skills class that will help sharpen your child's group learning skills. Our focus will be on:
- Following group instructions
- Handling multiple transitions
- Completing independent tasks
- Reducing behaviors that interfere with the group environment
- Early social skills development- working on things such as: taking turns, raising a hand and waiting to be called on, following multi-step directions, and interacting with peers
We have a certified special education teacher with ABA experience who creates a great learning environment and prepares children for a mainstream setting.
*Every summer TDLC offers Little Social Skills Class at the Center. We are considering expanding this service to offer it all year long! We need to gauge interest now so that know which direction to take in August. We would either have the class from 9am-12pm or 12-3pm Monday through Friday, but will not have it at both times. We need at least 5 children who are able to come consistently at one of those times in able to offer the class.

Older Social Skills Program: Ages 7-12
12pm-3pm, Monday through Friday
For our children who are a little older, we work on:
- independent work
- staying on task without frequent prompting
- functional life skills
- decoding the hundreds of social skills needed for daily interaction
This class is intended for those who do not necessarily need one-on-one therapy, but still need help getting work accomplished and staying on task.
*Placement in the Social Skills classes will be at the discretion of the Program Director and the Social Skills teachers.
