Tangible Difference Video Modeling Project
Video modeling is our personal project and we fully intend to be a leader and expert in this field. Video modeling involves a person watching an imitative action and being able to reproduce it. These videos will be available for the kids to watch at home and at the Learning Center. Well over thirty research articles published over the last six years point to children with autism improving pretend play, facial expressions, social scripts, imitation with peers, and theory of mind through the use of video modeling.
Video modeling has some major benefits such as:
- Some children respond to videos better than live models.
- A great alternative to watching a non-functional show or DVD.
- Repetitive nature of videos lends itself to potentially quicker acquisition.
- Very cost effective supplement to supplement and reinforce other therapies (ABA, Speech, etc).
We start on our final phase of videos this summer and are always looking for "typical kids" to video and children on the spectrum that seem to learn via video.
