Tangible Difference Video Modeling Project
Video modeling is our personal project in which we fully intend to be a leader and expert in this field. Video modeling involves a person watching an imitative action and being able to reproduce it. These videos will be available for the kids to watch at home, and at the Leaning Center. Well over thirty research articles, over the last six years point to children with autism improving; pretend play, facial expressions, social scripts, imitation with peers, and theory of mind.
Video modeling has some major benefits such as:
- Some children respond to videos better than live models.
- A great alternative to watching a non-functional show or DVD.
- Repetitive nature of videos lend itself to potentially quicker acquisition.
- Very cost effective supplement to help other therapies ( ABA, Speech, etc).
We start on our final phase of videos this summer and are always looking for "typical kids" to video and children on the spectrum that seem to learn via video.
